If we discover a desire within us that nothing in this world can satisfy, also we should begin to wonder if perhaps we were created for another world. ~ C.S. Lewis

A beautiful love song
A man who feels this way about a woman is not disillusioned, a great love song written with reality in mind, not just the fuzzy stuff. I try not to insert spiritual or theological meanings to the lyrics, especially the last couple of stanzas, it's simply how a man feels about a woman he deeply loves.
I was a bit surprised by the singer, his voice sounded to me like a man with long flowing hair and misty blue eyes, but he turns out to be a half balded guy with not so good acting ability. The original writer and singer, though, is really cool.
She
Maybe the face I can't forget
The trace of pleasure or regret
Maybe my treasure or the price I have to pay
She
Maybe the song that summer sings
Maybe the chill that autumn brings
Maybe a hundred different things
Within the measure of a day
She
Maybe the beauty or the beast
Maybe the famine or the feast
May turn each day into a heaven or a hell
She
Maybe the mirror of my dreams
The smile reflected in a stream
She may not be what she may seem
Inside her shell
She
Who always seems so happy in a crowd
Whose eyes can be so private and so proud
No one's allowed to see them when they cry
She
Maybe the love that cannot hope to last
May come to me from shadows of the past
That I'll remember till the day I die
She
Maybe the reason I survive
The why and wherefore I'm alive
The one I'll care for through the rough in ready years
Me
I'll take her laughter and her tears
And make them all my souvenirs
For where she goes I've got to be
The meaning of my life is
She
She, oh she

Reality or Fantasy
A response to an article a friend shared: "Beware Romantic Pornography"
That's a pretty good article, I am glad she pointed out what most people don't see. I particularly like one line towards the end, "In other words boys and men may need to be civilized, but never feminized." I hate (yes, I am using the word 'hate,") women whom make their boyfriends carry their little shinny pink handbags, that is completely feminizing the men, are their own tiny handbags too heavy to carry? Even more disgusting is the fact that those men willingly, or unwillingly, carry the bags!!! A grown man walking in the mall, getting on and off buses with a handbag in one arm and his girlfriend in another! Mind-boggling!
Hong Kong guys are quite civilized, maybe because of the 100+ years of British rule, they know how to treat a lady, well, at least the guys I know, can't say if it is true for the newer generations.
I also find it extremely important when watching romantic movies to see what those movies really are, they are not documentaries, it is supposed to show the "impossible," that's why they are fun, because it's impossible, just like Superman. Women and young ladies who watch these movies have to understand what they are watching, i.e., grow a critical brain. Romantic comedies are supposed to take you out of reality for an hour or so, let you dream the impossible, and then you have to come back into the real world. Problems come when women confuse fantasy with reality and start building up an image of men in fantasy-land, just as problems come when you can't tell if Superman is real or fantasy, so you wear a red underwear, put on a red cape and fly out the 32nd floor window.

Using literature to explain, you will be in deep doo-doo if you read poetry like history and apocalyptic works (e.g., the book of Revelation) like fantasy. Genre is such an important element when understanding and enjoying literature or movies.
The reason I love Korean drama, is that men are civilized, not feminized, it shows men, to a certain extend, how a civilized man should think or act, respecting, protecting the woman, and very often, withholding his feelings for the good of the woman, sacrificing himself for the woman. However, I do not like their physical roughness towards women, dragging them by the wrists, yelling, but probably that's what Korean culture is like.
I love what the author of the article said to her girls, I am teaching Kioni the same thing, "One day look to marry a Christian man of faithful and strong character; whom they will respect and whose distinctly male characteristics they will appreciate; that I hope they will have a group of close women friends, and that they will never get them and their husbands confused."
However, I cringe at how she used the word 'pornography,' maybe she made up the term 'romantic pornography' just to draw attention? If "twisting the perception for women about real men and how they 'ought' to behave toward women" amounts to pornography, then there are too many kinds of pornography in this world, and the largest group of pornographers are pastors, since so many "twisted the perception for the congregation about the real God and how he "ought" to behave towards his people." I wish the author would have chosen another word for "pornography."
